St. Luke is inviting individuals and families to support the Heartland Pride Parade on Saturday, July 18. You can participate by cheering along the parade route or by walking in the parade as a representative of St. Luke. This is one way we can show our support for and encouragement of members of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as their families and friends.

 

The parade will take place from 10:00am till about 11:30am on a downtown route (additional route details will be shared the week before the parade).

 

We encourage you to sign up at our sign-up link if you plan to walk in the parade or come to watch the parade, because there are a number of details we will not have until the week before the parade. If you sign up, we will be able to send you the final details about the parade route and any other last-minute information.

If you wish to walk with us in the parade

  • We will meet at our designated parade spot at 8:30am to decorate our trailer. We need individuals to help with this!
  • Everyone who is walking with us needs to arrive at our designated parade spot by 9:30am.
  • We are suggesting that if you are walking in the parade, you park at the CHI Health Center, because that is most likely where the parade will end. (There is also paid parking at Central City Parking Garage, 217 North 17th Street, between Dodge and Capitol.)
  •  After you have parked, call or text Chris Archer for specific directions to our trailer. You can reach Chris at 832-655-3422.
  • Individuals and families of all ages are welcome to walk with us! Plan to dress comfortably (including good walking shoes, as it is 1-1/2 miles). For the hot weather bring a water bottle and cooling rag if you want. If you have a St. Luke shirt, please wear it, or wear your best rainbow pride gear. 
  • If you are not sure you can walk the parade, there is limited space for riding on the trailer. If you want to sign up to ride on the trailer, contact Chris at chris@stlukeumc.com
