Small Groups

Bible / Book Studies

Various studies are offered on the Bible and religious/spiritual literature. There is no set schedule for these studies. They are offered a number of times throughout the year.

Chancel Choir (vocal choir)

The Chancel Choir provides music for the 10:30 a.m. worship service every Sunday. Rehearsals are held Wednesdays from 6:00-7:15 p.m. We are always looking for new choir members.

Chancel Ringers (bell choir)

The Chancel Ringers provide inspirational music for worship and non-worship settings. Wednesday evening rehearsals are filled with fun and fellowship. We’re always looking for new ringers—if you can read music, come join us–we’ll train you!

FaithLinks Discussion Group

The FaithLinks Discussion Group meets Sundays from 10:00-10:25 a.m. in the Conference Room (by the Missions Corner). The group uses FaithLinks study guides to facilitate discussion on a wide range of current events and how our faith impacts our views and responses. We meet between worship services to provide a joint opportunity for persons who attend the service at either 9:00 am or 10:30 am. All persons are welcome!

Fellowship Golf

Be part of a great group of golfers! Whether you are a novice or experienced, we want you there! Meet us at Warren Swigart Golf Course each month (May through September). 6:00 p.m. tee time; we play best ball or fend-for-yourself. Even if you can’t swing a club—or better yet, don’t own clubs—this group can be for you! We will help you to discover your inner talent!

Fellowship Movie Nights

A controversial movie will be shown with discussion to follow. Fellowship and mental stimulation is the purpose. Seating is limited to 12 and reservations are required. Details will precede each movie night. This group usually gathers the last Friday of each month.

Guilty Pleasures Book Club

This book club is open to anyone who is interested. The books we discuss are chosen by members in the group and we all enjoy talking about what we have read and how it impacts us. This is a great way to get to know others at St. Luke. Please come and join us! This group usually meets the 4th Thursday of each month.

Men’s Group

All men are invited to all activities hosted by the Men’s Group.

2nd Tuesday of each month—Meet at 5:30 p.m. at a designated location. This is a social gathering at which we hang out and get to know each other.

Last Saturday of each month—Breakfast at St. Luke at 7:30 a.m. in the St. Luke cafeteria (use the south lower canopy entrance). During our breakfasts, we discuss different topics and prepare for a church project that we will work on for a while that morning.

Missions Opportunities

The Missions Team coordinates and organizes mission activities both inside and outside of St. Luke walls. These activities include the Community Meal, Habitat for Humanity, Heartland Hope Food Pantry, Adopt-A-Park, and Youth Emergency Services. We also support the Teen Center, an outreach mission of St Luke, by identifying and addressing particular needs of the Teen Center. In addition to all of above activities, the Missions Team also does a variety of other things, such as, the annual Chili Contest, food drives, Harvest Table, and serving a meal to those who volunteer to decorate the church for Christmas, just to name a few.

UMW Annual Boutique

The UMW Annual Craft Boutique is held in September at St. Luke. There are many craft booths, a bake sale, book sale, breakfast, lunch and desserts served. Come enjoy a day of shopping, eating and fellowship. Help is needed from many St. Luke members before, during, and after the Boutique.

UMW Book Club

We meet every other month at a local coffee shop. This is a great way to get to know other St. Luke friends. We welcome new members! Come discuss a book with us!

UMW Dining Out Group

This women’s group gathers one Saturday each month for lunch. Enjoy conversations and food at a variety of local restaurants.

UMW Funeral Luncheon Committee

This group provides lunch for funerals held at St. Luke. Volunteers help set up the lunch, serve, and bake desserts.

UMW Quilting Group

Each quilter brings a sack lunch and a “host” provides beverages. The group meets in members’ homes. Interested St. Luke women are invited to come—no prior quilting experience is necessary. Quilters may work on a group project (donation quilts) or bring their own work. Meets the 2nd Friday of each month.

Women’s Bible Study

The Women’s Bible Study meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at “Brix, A Wine & Spirits Experience” (255 North 170th Street, in Village Pointe). All women are welcome to this Bible study.
