We offer two distinct worship services on Sunday mornings.
This service features a more relaxed environment, a limited liturgy, and a very lively energy level…and of course plenty of coffee and donuts at every table.
This service features liturgy, congregational singing, an outstanding Choir and Bell Choir, and occasional instrumental music. Coffee and donuts are provided before and after worship.
We offer adult Sunday School classes from 9:45-10:25 (between worship services) during the school year. Adult Sunday School classes offer a variety of topics. (See details below about Sunday School for children and youth.)
St. Luke’s Children’s Ministry is a thriving program where kids, with the guidance of loving and caring adults, take their first steps on their faith journey.
We offer a Nursery for ages 0-3 every Sunday during both worship services. Having grown up in the church and worked in our Child Development Center, our experienced nursery staff love watching little ones. They read a Children’s Bible story and do an activity in addition to playing games.
Our Sunday School program is growing and thriving! Using the Hands-On Bible curriculum, kids do age-appropriate activities and games while learning how to read the Bible and to talk about its lessons. Sunday School is offered 9:20-10:25 (during the first worship service) and 10:50-11:30 (during the second worship service).
We offer Sunday School for the following grades:
Every September or October, we celebrate Bible Sunday by presenting engraved Hands-On Bibles to our 3rd Graders (and anyone up to 6th Grade who needs one). Then we have a fun Bible Scavenger Hunt, where were we learn how to use our Bibles to read scripture as clues, leading us all over the church.
In the fall, the pastors host a special 3-part class on communion for our 1st and 2nd Graders, with a special communion for them and their families. In the spring, they do a special series on baptism.
In December, we have a great, everyone-has-a-role Christmas play during the first service, followed by a party. In the spring, we have a special Easter event.
For a week in July, we join Hanscom Park UMC for Vacation Bible School. This fun event is a great way to meet other kids while we have fun growing closer to God through games and lessons. It’s fantastic fun!
Mission Kids is a hands-on program that gives kids Grades 3-6 the opportunity to serve others and make a difference in their world by doing mission/service work for our local community. The kids enjoy service projects such as making cat blankets and pet toys for the Humane Society, kits for firemen who fight wildfires, gifts for kids at Children’s Hospital, and collecting books for Youth Emergency Services. It’s a great way to start kids out on a life of service.
Mission Kids meets the first Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8:00 during the school year. We meet in the Children’s Hub of the Education Wing. (Please enter the building through the west bell tower doors.)
Our youth meet weekly for fellowship on Wednesday nights and for worship on Sunday mornings during the school year. In the summer, they take a break but still get together for some summer fun and a mission trip. Along with our many adult volunteers, the youth attend retreats, complete service projects, and go on mission trips that they pay for themselves through fundraisers.
The St. Luke Jr. High Youth, for Grades 7-8, grow closer to each other, to the people they serve, to their church community, and to God.
Sundays, 9:45-10:25, in the Youth Lounge
We use Spark House’s re:form curriculum to study the Bible and Methodism and to talk about how it relates to our lives. The Confirmation Class visits other churches, helps out with church service, and has a lunch and discussion with the pastor at least three times a year.
Wednesdays, 6:30-8:00 in the Youth Lounge. (Please enter the building through the west bell tower doors.)
Our Fellowship Night is an opportunity to put what we learn on Sundays into action. We work all year with Youth Emergency Services (YES), completing a service project each month. Jr. High also participate in a Church/Community Scavenger Hunt throughout the year, where they earn points for completing a variety of fun tasks. Along the way, we attend the District’s Middle School Retreat, play games, and have fun hanging out together.
The highlight of the year is a 5-day mission trip that the Jr. High go on each summer. This is one of the best things about being in youth group, for the youth and the adults!

Our Sr. High Sunday School, meets Sundays, 9:45-10:25, in Pastor Marshall’s office. We use Teen Text curriculum to study scripture and how it relates to our lives and inspires others through videos, art, poetry, and music. Sunday School is a great place to challenge our youth through critical thinking in a safe, open-minded environment.

Our Fellowship Night is an opportunity to have fun putting what we learn on Sundays into action. We participate in a variety of service projects so youth can recognize their talents and learn there are a lot of ways to serve. We join our fellow church members to enjoy our community and serve as we clean parks, hold donation drives, cook, and provide comfort and grace for several local charities.
The highlight of the year is a week-long mission trip that the Sr. High go on each summer. This is one of the best things about being in youth group, for the youth and the adults!

We are blessed with a lot of children and youth and adults who care for them. But we can always use more adults! Please consider helping with Children and Youth!
Teaching and helping children and youth grow in their faith and become a part of their church community is one of the most fulfilling and fun things you can do as a volunteer at St. Luke. And the best thing is, you don’t have to be a Bible scholar or do it alone! We have teams of adults who share their time and talents to help our children and youth on their faith journey, but we can always use more.
Contact Sarah Sorensen at sarah@stlukeumc.com or 402-333-3663 x313 for more information about how you can use your talents to help with this growing and active program.
Various studies are offered on the Bible and religious/spiritual literature. There is no set schedule for these studies. They are offered a number of times throughout the year.
The Chancel Choir provides music for the 10:30 a.m. worship service every Sunday. Rehearsals are held Wednesdays from 7:15-8:30 p.m. We are always looking for new choir members.
The Chancel Ringers provide inspirational music for worship and non-worship settings. Wednesday evening rehearsals are filled with fun and fellowship. We’re always looking for new ringers—if you can read music, come join us–we’ll train you!
Be part of a great group of golfers! Whether you are a novice or experienced, we want you there! Meet us at Warren Swigart Golf Course each month (May through September). 6:00 p.m. tee time; we play best ball or fend-for-yourself. Even if you can’t swing a club—or better yet, don’t own clubs—this group can be for you! We will help you to discover your inner talent!
The Missions Team coordinates and organizes mission activities both inside and outside of St. Luke walls. These activities include Habitat for Humanity, Heartland Hope Food Pantry and Youth Emergency Services. We also support the St. Luke Teen Center by identifying and addressing particular needs of the Teen Center. In addition to all of above activities, the Missions Team also does a variety of other things, such as the annual Chili Contest, Trunk or Treat on Halloween, and various food and hygiene product drives.
The UMW Annual Craft Boutique is held in September at St. Luke. There are many craft booths, a bake sale, book sale, breakfast, lunch and desserts served. Come enjoy a day of shopping, eating and fellowship. Help is needed from many St. Luke members before, during, and after the Boutique.
We meet every other month at a local coffee shop. This is a great way to get to know other St. Luke friends. We welcome new members! Come discuss a book with us!
This women’s group gathers one Saturday each month for lunch. Enjoy conversations and food at a variety of local restaurants.
This group provides lunch for funerals held at St. Luke. Volunteers help set up the lunch, serve, and bake desserts.
Each quilter brings a sack lunch and a “host” provides beverages. The group meets in member homes. Interested St. Luke women are invited to come—no prior quilting experience is necessary. Quilters may work on a group project (donation quilts) or bring their own work. Meets the 2nd Friday of each month.
