There is no one parenting style guaranteed to help you bring up healthy and happy children; however, “Parenting With Love & Logic” is a parenting method that is considered to be effective in raising happy, healthy and smart kids.
Parenting With Love & Logic is a parenting style where parents learn to control their emotions when disciplining their children or youth. In this parenting style, parents use love and empathy to teach consequences, establish boundaries, build healthy parent-child relationships and love kids unconditionally for who they are and not for what they have achieved.
This parenting style also tends to reduce the number of power struggles and increase positive interactions—it makes it possible for you to raise children who are self-confident, motivated and ready for the real world; allows children to learn to solve their own problems while gaining the confidence they need to face life’s challenges; benefits parents since they learn to establish healthy control without resorting to anger, nagging, threats, or exhausting power struggles; and parents learn to control their emotions which can be helpful when they are faced with a difficult situation at home or even in the workplace.
We are excited to offer this workshop, which will be presented by Karen Gustafson, a certified Love & Logic facilitator.
The workshop is open to everyone, whether or not they are part of St. Luke. The workshop will be held in St. Luke’s Great Room (for this event, please use only the west bell tower doors).
Cost is $20 per person or $25 per couple. To register, make your check payable to St. Luke and write “Parenting Class” on the memo line. Mail or bring your check to St. Luke, 11810 Burke Street, Omaha, NE 68154.
Child care will be available for October 19 upon request. If you will need child care, please let us know when you register. Just include a note showing the names and ages of your child(ren) who will need child care during the workshop.
